Waterford Walls 2016 is fast approaching and promises to be even bigger and better than last year, with 40 local, national and international artists set to descend on the city over the main festival weekend in August. We have broadened our scope with a jam-packed arts programme which has already started in earnest with the launch of T-Walls in Tramore and brand new pieces by Dan Leo, DMC and ADW dotted around the city. We are so excited about the programme we have planned for this year – 40 murals, talks, art jams, family picnics, art and music trails, and loads more. Workshops and collaborations are already underway with some amazing work being produced by our artists, local youth groups and primary school children.
The whole team are in full swing behind the scenes and we are calling on volunteers and local businesses to get in touch and get involved. Individuals can help to promote and steward live events, and the Sponsor a Mural programme is ideal for businesses and organisations with a passion for the arts to help cover the expenses for this brilliant initiative. We are also on the look out for face painters for various events over the summer, so please get in touch if you can help out.
Be sure to check back here often for updates on this year’s exciting projects and interviews with some of our 40 artists. We can’t guarantee the sun this summer, but we can promise that Waterford Walls will make our city shine.
